In the Department of Planning, most of the positions are Civil Service positions and the majority of our positions are either: City Planner I, City Planner II or City Planner Supervisor.  We also have support positions which include: Human Resources, Fiscal Administration, and Office Support Specialists. Additionally, the agency occasionally has leadership positions that are non-civil service.

City Planner II: Equity and Engagement Planner- Department of Planning- Req# R0001002

A City Planner II performs planning projects of a complex, innovative and creative nature independently. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities, but may involve work as a project leader developing strategies for public engagement, managing Planning Academy initiatives, staying abreast urban planning and community development trends and research around equitable development.

Coastal Planner: City Planner II - Department of Planning

The Baltimore City Department of Planning- Office of Sustainability is recruiting for a Coastal Planner: City Planner II to support Baltimore's Critical Area Management Program, the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and the Community Rating System program. The Coastal Planner: City Planner II will perform integral professional and administrative work stewarding the City's regulated floodplains and coastal zone through the review and analysis of various development applications and plans. This role will also coordinate and collaborate with agencies and organizations advancing projects and policies that support the city's urban tree canopy in the coastal zone, coastal zone management, regulated tidal floodplains, management of water quality and quantity, natural areas, and biodiversity. The Coastal Planner: City Planner II will also contribute to Office of Sustainability outreach, engagement, and communications efforts.
